Thought 1

I can travel with my kids and arrange my work and childcare if they are with me. I can hire a caregiver there.

But I can’t because it costs a lot of money.

Thought 2

I have to face arguments by people who don’t understand my situation or don’t have positive attitude towards mothers for some reason – both men and women, at work.

For example, one female researcher told me that I have to wait 18 years before I can go to conferences. They said it at a work event, and nobody corrected her. Did they have the same opinion?

Peolpe think that it is correct for them to tell me how to organize my childcare, and whether I travel with kids or not, and what needs our family/kids have… even though they are just coworkers and never even met my kids.

Even people who are nice, can have little knowledge or misinformation what it means to be a mother and/or what it means to have kids. Why do I need to breastfeed? Why do I need to see my child? It can get awkward even if I try to explain…

Thought 3

Childcare. Why not give travel money to cover the cost of traveling with a child , the childcare cost? Why? It is considered to be unfair.

Thought 4

It is unfair / penalized if I bring my husband. The total cost of hotel, for example, is divided. I get reimbursed only half of the amount a single person would have been reimbursed.

So it is that I get reimbursed less than a single person gets reimbursed, even though I am traveling with kids.

It makes no sense.
