Turku sounds a lot like “Turkey” to my ears (and pretty much to everyone I knew before coming to Finland), but is not the same place. In fact, Turku is the ancient capital of Finland. I found myself in that city in my chase for my dream career of astronomy research. My PhD program was in Turku.
It’s a lovely place to be. Here are some videos from my recent trip. The trip was brief but very sweet – long white nights and nice weather and all. I loved my walks by the river when kids finally got tired and fell asleep, so I was not chasing the little feet who insisted on running along the river and getting into a ton of mischief along the way. Aura river joys did not disappoint, and it was lovely to have my family to share the mellow gentleness with them this Midsummer.
